Humanity lives in a world with a population that far exceeed Dunbar’s Number. How does this impact the stability of our civilization? IMAGE SOURCE
Dunbar’s Number is the limiting number of trusting relationships that a person can maintain. Tribes are known to naturally split after exceeding Dunbar’s Number in population. In other words, a tribe of 300 members naturally splits into two tribes of 150 members each. This leads to competition for resources. With a global population of more than 7,000,000,000 people competition for resources is reaching unstable levels–with 45 million tribes competiting for the same resources. Somehow humanity has to work together.
