Grad School Research - Metamaterials
Research projects during my graduate school career.
Introduction
Metamaterials are most known for invisibility. My research advisor, Professor Dentcho Genov, has spent a considerable amount of time working on metamaterials research. So, he me with algorithmic development of feature extraction methods. Subsequently, I developed an algorithm to resolve the complex branch problem with the “inverse method” and built some tools for the group to model new materials.
Massive Light
Through our work we arrived at a basic question: is there such a metamaterial that could cause a massless particle (e.g. photon, phonon) to behave as a massive particle (e.g. electron)? This work eventually led my PhD work, discussed below.
